There have been allegations going round that the Halloween costumes that impounded in Mombasa belonged to a very prominent politician. Former assistant minister, Omingo Magara came out to deny this allegations yesterday. Magara has however acknowledged owning some items that were in the same container with the costumes.
He has given KRA and commissioner Memo 7 days to apologise for this, failure to which he’ll move to court. Meanwhile, the owners of Village Market, confirmed ownership of the items. In a press statement, the company revealed that they are to be used to decorate the Village Market during Halloween later this month.
Part of the statement read,
Market Masters LTD, hereby confirms that indeed we have ordered for the Halloween decorative items imported from China in container number PCIU 8125750, and are not restricted items.
Just like during Easter Holiday or Christmas season, the items in question are solely used for decorating the entire shopping centre for our annual Halloween parties held within village market every last Saturday in October, for the past 17 years.
We needed to replace the old worn out ones with us, in readiness for our upcoming Haloween party slated for 26th October 2013. This has put an end to the speculations that have been going round as to who owns this satanic costumes
