“It’s called ‘Ride The Wave’”, he said. “But if I’m really honest, it’s not actually that good a dance. I was at my apartment in London and listening to music and messing about with my cousins and I ended up doing this move. I don’t know why but it just stuck. I’ve got to mix it up a bit. I’ve got to come with something new.”
Sturridge also spoke of his own keen sense of fashion, ambitions as a music producer and rapper, and revealed plans to soon open a restaurant in
Birmingham. But it was his comments regarding his love life that Soccer Report (OK, the ladies at SR) found most interesting.
“My lifestyle is focused on football and that’s the way I guess I’ll be until I retire. But there’s always time for love and crushes — I’m single, aren’t I? I wouldn’t say no to Rihanna,” the striker said.
The singer, who recently split from on-again off-again boyfriend Chris Brown, was in England last month on her world tour and yes, Sturridge is reported to have
attended at least one of her shows.
While life at Liverpool could hardly have gotten off to a better start for Sturridge, he is careful not to get carried away with his success. “I just take everything in my stride,” he said. “I don’t get excited too much because I’ve realised that things can change quickly.”
In addition to Rihanna, Sturridge also maintains an admiration for the U.S. in general, expressing an interest in playing there sometime in the future. Asked if
he could see himself gracing Major League Soccer, he said, “Yeah, definitely. I think towards the end of my career that’s somewhere where I’d like to give it a
go because culturally I really like the way it is over there. I love going on holiday there – the vibe, the energy, the music, the will to be successful, and the food. I love it.”
And…well…Rihanna lives there.
